ACI: Europe's top airports are...
The Airports council International (ACI) yesterday unveiled its list of best European airports dominated by Amsterdam and London - Heathrow, Hamburg, Edinburgh and London - City in their respective size categories.
At a ceremony in Istanbul on June 11, 2013, ACI was unable to decide between the two winners of the "more than 25 million passengers per year" Heathrow and Schiphol therefore share the top spot, the judges recognizing the excellence of their services and their facilities, but also their commitment to the disabled, the environment or local communities.
In the category "10 to 25 million passengers per year," ACI awarded the title at the Hamburg airport, particularly noted for his offer free wifi, its presence on social networks. German platform is also praised for its engagement with local communities.
In the category "5 to 10 million passengers per year," Edinburgh Airport has obtained first class for the third consecutive time, the jury was particularly impressed by the financing of new roads for better connectivity.
Finally the "1 and 5 million passengers per year" is won airport London - City, whose strategy centered around "streamlining the passenger experience" is unique, encouraging travelers to save later possible and not relying on the time they spend wandering through the duty-free shops.
ACI Europe does not give a list of finalists or the following places in the rankings, simply referring to a "high level of competition." The organization points out that it is 450 airports in 44 European countries, and its ranking take into account customer service, facilities, stores, security, community relations and commitment to the environment. This last point is also the subject of a separate award, the Eco-Innovation Award this year at the Athens airport, which despite the crisis has continued its efforts to reduce its emissions of greenhouse gases emissions, through the commitment of all parties, the staff training and innovation.
